That Time, When Castiel chose.
tents, a strong purple color, are drawn to keep out the sun's rays in the chamber of the nth motel poor, illuminating the room with a red light almost unnatural. Dean finds himself in bed staring at the ceiling, fingers interlaced across his chest. Sam is lying on the bed beside her, with his back to her brother, and Dean is not sure he is asleep. They managed to leave the convent of St. Mary Lucifer came out before the door opened by the blood of Lilith, and Dean does not know how the hell they managed to escape. It 'true that after his escape with Castiel and their betrayal, up there there is no one ready to protect him because he was the chosen one, given that we now refused that role, disobeying orders. They failed, they failed to stop the rebirth of Lucifer, but at least Sam is safe. Played into the hands of Ruby for two years without knowing it, has broken the final seal, but at least it's unless , and that's what counts for Dean.
Yet, despite the relief for his brother, Dean is not quiet. Castiel is gone since the archangels have appeared in all their fury at the home of Chuck and Dean does not know what might have happened after Castiel sent it to the convent. One angel against the most powerful weapons of Paradise, just like Castiel had called, can not certainly end well. Dean knows this and is afraid, partly because he feels guilty. The whole history of the plot of the angels against God just did it really pissed off and Castiel was the only one to have helped him in times of need.
He disobeyed orders to him to that human that had come to serve. Castiel may have been the biggest son of a bitch that Dean has ever met, but thanks to him that is no longer locked up in that hole at the mercy Alastair, and is always thanks to him that Sam is safe.
And now all is quiet, too damned quiet. As soon as Lucifer had set foot on Earth, would have unleashed the mayhem but ... nothing. Not that this is not a good thing, think of Dean, but the words of the angels, the apocalypse was supposed to have burst.
- I need a breath of fresh air .- Sam murmured suddenly, getting up and leaving his brother alone in the room, not daring to look at him. Dean follows him with his eyes until the door closes behind him.
The slight click of the closing the door is accompanied by another sound, a rustle very familiar, so familiar that Dean rises suddenly out of bed to investigate its source.
And in the twilight of the room wanted, even though two out of the sun is high in the sky, sees . Castiel is leaning against the doorway of the bathroom, panting, and a firm hand on her hip.
- Cas? - Dean's voice is uncertain as he approaches him and it is only when a few feet away from him who sees it, a big red stain ruined the fabric of the beige coat.
- Cas .- Dean repeats, almost out of breath and a slight note of panic in his voice, once you reach the other.
Castiel you glide to the ground with a groan, without removing the hand from the wound.
- What have you done? - Dean calls, helping to free themselves from picking up the coat and shirt, leaving the wound uncovered.
- Christ .- murmurs, taking a towel from the bathroom to put it down, when wet, long and deep cut on the side of Castiel.
Angel jumps at the touch of subtly but Dean remains silent, still panting breath. See Castiel in that state is something that Dean would never have expected. Not that he had never seen wounded but had never seen so much suffering in that way ... human . The extraordinary healing ability of the angel usually meant that his injuries disappeared so fast it was almost impossible to believe that until recently there had been, but this is different. Totally different.
- Why does not heal? - Application, leaning more toward him.
Castiel takes a few seconds before answering.
- The wounds inflicted by angels against other angels ... - begins with fatigue, before crashing, probably for another twinge of pain. - ... Are different from those inflicted by men. They are made so that our true essence can feel pain .-.
takes a deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment. - .- As punishment he adds, in a trembling voice, opening his eyes, without looking at Dean.
- What's sons -
- Dean interrupts him .- Castiel, admonitory tone, turning to watch it. And there's something in his eyes that completely displaces Dean, destroying the image of being perfect and indestructible who had made the angel.
- Shit, Cas! - Dean blurts out, without repressing anger. - Do you do this and you still have the courage to trust them? -
Castiel does not respond, merely to keep the wet towel on the wound and look down. Dean sighs, shaking his head slowly. Castiel murmured something that sounds very much like the conclusion of what this guy was going to say, but has neither the strength nor the desire to replicate.
- Do not you fall, right? - Dean finally asked, after a long silence. He does not hide his concern, knows what would happen if the angel fell, he already seen that happen with Anna, and could never perdonarselo. Jimmy knows that for now there is nothing to do, he accepted his destiny to protect his family, but does not want anything to happen to Castiel for his sake.
- No. - plan meets Castiel, and a wave of relief pervades Dean. - I was punished for having impeded their fate. Your and Sam .-
Dean sighs and lowers her eyes.
- I'm sorry. It 'my fault .-
- No, Dean. I was the one to decide. And I should not have. We are not allowed to make decisions, we are not allowed feelings. And I have violated both rules, following my instincts ... , you name it. But I do not regret .- assures him, catching the tone decided yet. - I chose. And I have chosen you, the human that I had promised not to serve .-
And then Dean looks at Castiel so hard that the boy looks down, unable to support that look. He gets up, without a word, Castiel and helps to stand up, without causing more pain. It helps to lie down on her bed, hoping that a little rest, 'even though it is not certain it will work, since by definition it is not human. He starts to turn and go to the bathroom, but it hangs.
- Dean .-
not turn, simply stand still in place.
- Thanks .-
Dean merely making a gesture with his head before looking down on his hands, still stained with the blood of Castiel.
